Stress

When I have a bad day, Frank and Beans are there to fill me with their "Puppy Love" when I get home.  Instantly my day just got better.  Some days takes more work to destress.
Although we shouldn't bring our jobs home, some days are just to much to handle.  But stewing about what happened over and over won't relieve the tension built up inside your body.  It'll cause a sleepless night and another bad day tomorrow.
Vent!  Either to your spouse or your pet.  Your pet will make the better listener.  They won't judge you, they won't tell you what you should have done.  They will love the attention and show you love in return.
Give yourself a "pep talk".
  • I am a good person.
  • I am worthy.
  • I am loved.
Hug yourself.  Fold your arms and grab the opposite shoulders.  Squeeze!  Tight!  This will also help relieve the tension that has built up.  Next, stretch your neck.  Bring your chin to your chest.  Put a hand on the back of your head and stretch a little more.  Tilt your head to the right.  Try to touch your ear to your shoulder.  Again use your hand for extra stretch.  Repeat on the opposite side.  Next clasp your hands behind your back and raise your arms.  This will cause a good stretch in your chest.  You just stretched your muscles that retain tension.  Feel better?
After a healthy meal, take Fido for a walk.  Exercise always helps your mood.  Go to bed early.  You deserve it.
Wake up with a positive attitude  Think about what you are "thankful" for.  Give yourself another pep talk.  Now you will leave the security of your home with a smile on your face.  And you deserve it!

I love my boys!  They make me happy!  Their love is so forgiving and unconditional.  I come in from work and until I stop to show them some love, they go crazy!
I love listing to their paws on the wood floors.  Especially when they are running, which they normally are.  Just knowing that they are happy, makes me smile.
I love when they play together.  The growling, the barking (which their daddy hates).  I have to admit, I secretly chuckle.  They chase each other as fast as those little bitty legs will take them (back to the wood floors).
I love when they are in my lap.  Yes, both of them.
I love the way they each want what the other has.  Even if they each have one, they will fight over the same one.
I love when their tail is wagging so hard, you can hear it slapping against something.
I love when they follow daddy around.
I love to watch them sleep.  Sweet, sweet angels.
I love when they kiss each other.
I love when they cock their head to one side wondering what the heck you're doing.
I love when they snatch & grab and take off running cause they know they're not supposed to have it.
I love when they burrow under a blanket.
I love when one of them burrows under the blanket while the other gets on top and they're playing through the blanket.
I love when they roll over on their back.
I love when they act like idiots.

I wonder how they do during the day when we aren't home.  They are crate trained.  And I feel guilty.  I came across a website for My Doggy Genius.   The author shows how to make toys out of things around the house.  She shares some creative games that she plays with her dogs.  I get home during the hottest time of the day, and believe me It's been hot in Texas.  They don't want to play outside!  What great ideas to play indoors.  Anyway, take a look.  I think she's got a great idea!

Lazy Sunday

I love a good Thunderstorm.  And that's what is happening outside today.  On a Sunday.  Sundays are the best days to be lazy.  Frank and Beans are taking a nap with daddy.  They aren't about to go outside.  They both got baths and washed all their energy out anyway.
So, here I am on my Computer, catching up.
I can't believe the weather we are getting in Texas, mid-August.  Cooler temperatures and rain!  In fact, I heard on the radio last week that we won't see the 100's until next year.  Doesn't hurt my feelings.
Even though I have lived in Texas now for almost 30 years, I still hate the summers.  I'm from New Mexico and we had hot summers, but nothing like this.  The heat and the humidity makes me a hermit.  I don't leave the air conditioning.  I go from a/c to my car and back to a/c again.
The weather has alleries flared up.  DH is in there sounding like he's dying.  Sneezing, hacking, and mad that he can't be outside.  He loves summer!  The hot summer!  When things are dead.  But now things are growing again.
I do have to brag a little about Frank and Beans.  They slept all night last night.  Never wanted out of their crate until this morning.  Guess the grandbaby pooped them out.  She stayed the night too.
Hope everyone is enjoying their lazy Sunday as much as I am.  Gonna search the Web now.

My Moment

My friend put her dog down this week.  Vet believes she had a heart attack and went down hill fast.  My heart goes out to her, I know the feeling.
I had to make the same decision with my beloved Rusty.  He would have been 17.  He led a good life, but when it comes to a point that watching them suffer hurts your heart, the decision is made.
My moment came while watching Rusty eat some leftovers.  His legs gave out and he landed on the bowl and broke it.
I miss him.  People say, "He's not hurting anymore" and "He's in a better place".  That doesn't fill the void in my heart.
Just last week Beans did something that Rusty always did.  He wanted to see me and instead of moving his body, he stretched his neck around the corner to watch what I was doing.  I always thought that was so adorable when I would catch Rusty doing that and when I saw Beans doing the same thing, I cried.
I think that was the first good cry I had for Rusty.  I had tears when the time came, but not a good cry.  And it came months after his leaving this world.
I decided after Rusty not to get another dog for a while.  We stay so busy.  But Frank and Beans came into our lives.  The best decision we could have made.  Something about a puppy helped the healing process.
I love my boys.  Thank you Lord for knowing what I needed more than I did.

Much Love!

ROT - Republic of Texas Rally in Austin, TX.
My cousin, Melinda, is owner of Austin Stage Company.  They did all of the Stage work at the ROT Rally.  This is great for us because we get to park our motorhome behind the stage and see all of the concerts up close & personal.  The headliner this year was Ted Nugent.  He put on an awesome concert.

 In full head dress.
 Raising the American Flag.

You got to love Ted Nugent.  He has some strong political beliefs and he loves this Country.

I went to Petsmart and got Frank & Beans harnesses & Leashes for this Rally.  We're still trying to figure out how to keep up with 2 puppies at the same time.  The harnesses worked well.  I would put the leash on and let them go.  They wouldn't venture to far having to drag their leash.  Even though we were camped in privacy, I was nervous about them wandering off.

Didn't seem to bother them when they slept.
That's Beans.  Not the best at being on a leash.  But they'll learn.  I got the XS harness and we really had to take them up.  I got a matching leash for Beans too, but I got the 1" size and it was really heavy for him.  Good thing I kept this leash in the motorhome from Rusty.
They love being outside but when they were ready to go in, they had a way of letting me know.

Benny & I went riding the Harley one day.  Got to the West side of Austin by Lake Travis and we found the only rain storm in the area.  We were soaked!  Had to stop and wait it out and were so soaked, we decided to head back.  Wish I had a picture of that!!

Friday morning we woke up to shredded toilet paper.  Again, I didn't think to grab the camera.  Can you imagine the fun they were having!?!

Frank & Beans are getting much better about riding in the motorhome.  Frank actually took a nap on the dash.  Beans laid down, but never relaxed enough to fall asleep.  Ended up in my lap again.  But he did much better.

What a beautiful face!

Rainy came to see us this week and had a brand new dress on!  She is so cute!  Unfortunately blue nail polish didn't help this dress to much!  Yea, it was Nana's fault.  So, a trip to Kohls and $60 later, I replaced that dress.

LOVE this picture with their little tongues hanging out.

Frank liked that dress to.

Frank & Beans go for their 10 week check-up and vaccinations this week.
I need advice on potty training.  Any advice.  They love to go outside.  That's not a problem.  They pee outside, no problem.  But inside (the dining room), they are pooping machines!  They will stay outside for 30 minutes, running & playing, smelling.  Then they come inside & poop!  What can I do to stop this?   HELP!!!    Until next time!

Frank & Beans took their first long trip in the motorhome over Memorial weekend.  We had a Chili Cook-off at the Choctaw Casino in Durant Oklahoma.  The trip there wasn't to bad.  They slept most of the way and besides Jennifer went with us.

Our friend, Kris, gave us a playpen to keep them corralled while we cook.  Even Benny admitted it was a good idea.   Thanks Kris!

They are getting more adventurous.  And thanks to who dumped their chili out next to the motorhome.  Beans loved it!  Couldn't keep him out of it.

They met some more puppies.  They are 1 week older than they are.  And adorable!

They love everybody!  Which is what we want.
We want them to be sociable.  When we pull up to a Chili Cook-off, it's not us that everyone comes to see.  It's Frank & Beans!

We took the motorcycle & on Sunday, Benny & I rode the Talamena Trail.  Beautiful ride.  Getting to the top of the trail and seeing the view was absolutely amazing and worth the 360 miles we rode that day.
The trip home was good.  Beans had a hard time calming down.  I finally had to wrap him up in his blanket and hold him until he fell asleep.  Then I could put him in the bed with Frank.

We had a great holiday weekend.  I hope you did too.    We will be home this weekend getting ready for another long weekend in Austin.
ROT Rally!
